Eugene - my head hurts.

Pardon my french, but jesus fucking H, man this one kicked my ass... Probably not so much the gig as it was the ten or eleven beers and the being up until 6am sleeping for two hours and then getting right in the van. See here's the thing about vans.. There is a long long struggle known to those who play music. It's the fight to squirm around for hours, changing positions to rotate which limbs are allowed to get blood in them for the next hour. Usually my right leg gets cut off first. After some time my back with start acting up, usually right about here is where the rest of the alcohol wears off from the night before and my head starts throbbing. I'll put on my glasses and move into some variation of fetal position where my right side is allowed the passage back in to circulation. Two bad left thigh, fuck off. Anyway, that's not important. What's important is Eugene was fun and we have some pretty good friends out there that put us up AND put up WITH us. We took Ben and Travis from Leslie & The Badgers to stay with us. Normally they split up with us after the gig and get a hotel room to chill out. Leslie is one hell of a vocalist. Anyone that has ever seen them live knows how much this band fucking kicks ass. Ben is actually an incredible songwriter too. Somewhere around 2 or 3 when everyone was at the apartment where we stayed, Ben and I started jamming out and swapping songs in some random room. We built up a little crowd of homies. Ben honestly blew me the fuck away, this guy is like if Townes was in a classic rock band. Some of the people started going to bed and we went back out in to the living room to hang. I was beer huntin' and I found a Blue Moon in the freezer. I looked around and found that I was in the clear. I cracked that fucker open like a walnut and retreated to the dark balcony where everyone was smoking to polish off this gem. About 1/4 done with the beverage a kid walked up to me. This dude had beer theft radar like no other sonofabitch I've ever met. "Did you bring Blue Moons?"... "uhhmmm, well, no." I said. "That's mine." he told me, "you found that in the freezer!" I was caught red handed like a chump. "Alright man, I'll just give a few bucks, sorry brother, just wanted a better beer." He said "No, I don't want your money. I want that beer back." hahahaha. What? He reached over took the beer out of my hand mid sentence and placed it in a college beer coozy. ya win some and ya loose some, eh? Anyway, back on to the good shit.. Drummers are a dumb breed. We are, man, I used to think I was an exception but as you get older, the more you release that you're an idiot. Travis, the drummer for leslie and myself around 4am found a bottle of Jaeger in the freezer and started taking shots. Bad idea. We ended up washing em down with yet more beers and somewhere along the line ended up getting tatted up with sharpies. Brian wrote BAD NEWS on Travis' arm. I drew a navajo Skull on his chest and gave him the gnarliest back piece that read BROast Beef Sandwich. I took off my shirt and made a Tube Top out of tape and paper towels. FLASH FORWARD to me being in the hottub and out stumbles Travis into the courtyard. Ass naked and just starts peeing in the hottub. We all bail out. Anyway, I think a day and half later Travis still has his tatts.

SF Last Night VIDEO COMING!!

San Francisco is a weird place... I spent time trying to convince the guys that it was a lot like girls back in LA. It's nice to look at.. Really nice architecture... but when you spend some time there it starts to get... less appealing. But... there is a little slice of cool there called The Hotel Utah where we played. This place was pretty fucking sweet if you ask me. It was a venue that kind of looks like a mixture between an old bar and a ship. The balcony in the venue actually LOOKS like the bottom of an old boat. The place got pretty damn packed. They gave us free food and a case of beer. The money wasn't bad. Sold some of our new shirts and new album... So SF, much like the comparison, I'll spend a night or two in you anytime.

Video from SF coming soon! and from Eugene Tonight so check back tomorrow!!

Sacramento. Day One.

This was hectic. But only because it was the first out of towner on the tour. Dave picked us up in the van, Leslie from Leslie & The Badgers had to loan us a Yakima case to strap to the top because we didn't get trailer and we were WAY too packed with Luggage. We pulled in to town where we googled "Luigi's Fun Garden" where we were told we were playing. We drove through a haggard ghetto where we arrived at the place with a big run down dirty sign on a tattered building that read "Luigi's Pizza Garden". We went inside, kinda bummed out at how shitty this place looked. There were sordid looking people staring at a 90's big screen tv that was sitting on an old piece of plywood, propped up of four cinder blocks. "I don't think there is a p.a. here, dude." Turns out we definitely went to the wrong place. We were in the ghetto at some shitty pizza joint that apparently has damn near the same name. I hope no one came to see us there because I'm pretty sure we had that spot posted on our myspace? oops. We tracked down the REAL spot, located in a really kind of trendy part of town where we could hear other live music in the air. It smelled like pizza still.  When we found the venue we were really playing, it was a change of atmosphere. Anyway, thank god. It was a cool gig. People in Sacramento tend to be really nice.. and they had a good beer selection. We split up with leslie & The Badgers and got a room at The Vagabond Inn. The lady at the desk felt bad for us I guess.. She said she's give us a deal on a room and she did. Room 314... We all toted our bags of luggage and a case of beer up the three floors, opened up the door and immediately started to bail back out of the room. It smelled like rotten food and piss. The light wouldn't turn on. Apparently someone had taken out all the light bulbs in the room. Trav said people do that to smoke meth out of. Yikes! There we're molded over cups of yogurt on the counter, one with a spoon still sticking out of it. We bailed back down the stairs and told the woman at the desk that for various reasons we'd like another room. For a minute, Brian and I thought maybe someone had died in the room so we went back in to look in the bathroom. No one was there. We got another room that was clean. Thankfully again, we had a good nights sleep. Got drunk, and dumped some of this video on to the computer...
